It came into my bedroom,
This creature of the night;
Like a zombie, it came stealing,
Came stealing into sight.

My mind was racing madly,
As my fingers clutched the bed;
I pondered with the question,
Is it real, or something dead?

I tried my best to scream out,
But uttered not a sound;
The muscles in my body
Were tightly, tightly wound!
